Winter Wedding Ideas please...

Hello, I'm new to the site, so thanks for all the useful information I've read so far. I've set the date for my wedding just this week and am very excited :j . We are getting married in January 2008, just outside Stratford upon Avon and we are thinking of ice/snow/frost fayre as a "theme". I wondered if anyone had any ideas for a Winter wedding, that I could incorporate into my day. From the dress, to the reception, decorations, favours etc. Apologies in advance if this is covered elsewhere and I've missed it!

I went to a wedding last year, which was similarly themed.
What everyone seemed to like was a variety of Ice Sculptures set around the reception venue.
These come in a variety of shapes and sizes, and might be a good idea, to maintain the wintery theme
Places that offer this, can easily be found on the internet.
Another thing about that wedding..all guests were asked to wear white.
The bride and groom were the only 2, wearing non-white...went down a storm !
Best of luck, hope your wedding goes well

Thanks M, I like the idea of ice sculptures... sound expensive though? I'll google them now...0

You can get table ice rather than ice sculptures which look really pretty.
Cant find the link to the website though

Aarrgghhh I just wrote a really long reply and its gone! waaaaah x
Okay I will start again.
Congratulations on setting your date.
You could use candles instead of flowers to create a warm / cosy feel - this would also be much cheaper than flowers too.
How about having a mini xmas tree and instead of a guest boo, make a wish tree. A wish tree is for people to hang messages on - with messages of things they hope and wish for you in marriage like this CLICK
Also consider having a late wedding and then a evening hog roast - this will save you a fortune not having a sit down meal.
Buy a posh xmas decoration as your wedding topper.
Use xmas baubles to double up as name cards and favours.
Use xmas 2007 cards as your Save The Date card to save a fortune on stamps and buying save the date cards.
Have mini bottles of Baileys as wedding favours - I have found these online for about a £1 each.

I used this company for photo albums as gifts for parents - Leah does a lovely snowflake range - CLICK
Maybe design something yourself - this is nice and simple design CLICK
Keep an eye out on ebay after xmas for brides selling off xmas things from their own wedding - like tiaras, capes, etc.
How about one of these lovely snowflake pendants for yourself or for BM's - CLICK:heart2:Mum to my little Daisy 3 and Archie 1.:heart2:0 -
I wanted to post that incase it vanished again
I love these snowball candles - CLICK - they look very lovely and sparkly in real life.
Snowflake keyrings as thank you gifts for the bridal party CLICK

You could go with Turkish Delight as wedding favors, like the ice queen in The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe!Deliver us from email....0

Thank you so much for all the lovely ideas. I think I need to read the Lion, The Witch and the Wardrobe again! Perhaps I'll watch the movie... it'll be quicker! My Dad would be happy he loves Turkish Delight. Not sure about other guests though? Googling Ice Sculptures came up with moulds, not sure if these would be any good... definitely cheaper. But maybe it they would be too much hassle thinking about it. Love the wish tree idea... could have it all frosty and sparkly too! And will definitely go down the Christmas decoration route, hope I can hold out my nerve until the sales as the wedding will only be a couple of weeks away then!!
I was also thinking of a white chocolate fountain, not sure how that would go down? I LOVE white chocolate, but all the pics on the site seem to be "milk" and that wouldn't look the part! What do people think?
Soooo excited, soooooo much to do x0 -
I think a white chocolate fountain would look fab!
