hi all.. i am a newbie at dealing with companies like this but previously had poor debt. ive now cleared all debt i know plus those listed on experian, equifax and callcredit.

Capquest for the last 2 years have called me about a halifax debt from over 10 years ago (not listed on my credit files) that i know nothing of so i requested verbally a copy of the agreement. (silly i know as it was ignored) - i downloaded your letter (many thanks) demanding a copy back in june 13. they stopped all telephone comms and have sent a couple of letters.

They responded in july saying they are waiting for halifax and then again in september saying its not a credit file being a personal account.

i legitimatelly do not know of this account as i had a halifax account as a baby but not as an adult or even child.

I have worked hard to get my files clear so I am assuming this is a phising excersize.

I havent acknowledged the debt but is there a letter or template i can do to say its not mine and go away or its been over 10 years since the last contact so do they still have cause to chase...

I just want them to stop as it is a nusence especially for family.

many thanks for your guidance and help.

You should have sent a prove-it letter. However, their response indicates that you may have formally asked for a copy of the credit agreement, with a £1 payment?

This would have confused them as only the account holder can do this.

In any case, Fermi's letter is the right one to send now.
  • thats exactly what i did. i have printed the prove-it letter and will post tomorrow. many thanks for the advice fermi/fatbelly...

I am astounded at how much support you guys/gals give (and very greatful)...
