Explain what is good about paying loads of interest to foreign countries please. I would be happy to know.

If we had spent just a little less over the last few decades, we could have been much better off now.

Barclays, HSBC, Yorkshire etc are awaiting the details before signing up.

Are they drawing down funds from the Funding for Lending scheme?

Cannot see HSBC being interested as they have no difficulty in funding their mortgage book anyway. With a £50k single income and £75 joint income requirement for mortgages , demand from their customers is bound to be a lot lower.

Gives RBS and Lloyds a competitive advantage doesn't it?
Until you know the final detail of the program it's so something you won't know.

You shouldn't really make assumptions when you don't have all the info. More often than not, you make mistakes.

Between Carney and Osborne they've well and truly pulled the rug from under the nay-sayers.

The final couple of arguments about 'soaring interest rates' or 'needing a 40% deposit to buy your first 4 bed detached' have evaporated.

Looks like that boat did sail in Feb 2009 and won't be returning for another 15-20 years.

Fair play to them they held their nerve, can't of been easy.

This may be very true, some have missed an opportunity of a lifetime not only to make the most of an opportunity for themselves but helping to secure their children's future too.

There are of course many riding the boat whose children will also be priced out in due course.

Less than 50% of UK listed shares are now owned by UK individuals or institutions.

I was referring the UK national debt.

As you know companies listed on the UK stock exchanged aren't necessarily 'British'.

Is this some sort of racist view of the world?

Do you feel it is equally wrong for foreign peoples to pay interest/dividends to the UK?

I know we have foreign assets any idea whether we pay out more interest than we receive (excluding BOE/UK government contras) - as a whole?
