sign up for HSBC current account to reduce mortgage fee

Hi, we have applied for a mortgage with HSBC. We have had one approved in principle and yesterday had the first of 2 meetings with a mortgage manager.

One of the things I found out in the meeting is if I was an HSBC current account holder it would reduce the arrangement fee for the product we want by 1/2 (I wish they'd told me that when I had a mortgage approved in principle).

We have the 2nd meeting on Thurs 10th Oct. At this point do you think I can apply for a current account and get the discount on the arrangement fee)?

cheers
Alastair

  • I did, applied when we had a DIP. I cycle £500 a month through it as per their Ts and Cs.

Is there any minimum qualification period?

IIRC NatWest's is three months. Don't know about HSBC, you'll have to ask them.
