  • do you recommend a specific one? The gym guy did mention shakes, but when I looked in the shops I really didn't know what I was looking at! I tried a protein bar once, but it just seemed to stop me going to the toilet for a couple of days :(

I buy mine from Natures Best Sport website: http://www.naturesbest.co.uk/sports/whey-protein-chocolate-flavour-p352/

Although my partner buys his from Hectic Sports. They do have a webstore, however, it's usually cheaper to buy from their Ebay store. The Ebay store is hectic_lifestyles.

    problem is that Im veggie
I suspect that you get your energy from carbs then and that likely means that extended bouts of exercise will be counter productive as it will just make you hungry and therefore likely to eat more. We humans are very good at packing on fat because it is a survival mechanism. Part of that system is to burn fat as fuel, not carbs/sugar. Burning fat means that one does not get so hungry so quickly. I can miss out a meal or two without any discomfort but I eat meat which has far more calories than vegetables but stops hunger pangs better. This book was written by a person who had been Vegan.

As to exercise, short high intensity strength training workouts to build lean muscle is the best way to go as it doesn't take much time and muscle uses more calories to keep up than fat. I can do two sessions in less than half an hour a week.
