This may be important to money savers so i have extracted it from the BT Price Rise Thread.
Post By Graham1 this morning.
"According to
http://stakeholders.ofcom.org.uk/consultations/nmr-13/statement/statement-summary
"we are removing BT's obligation to offer carrier pre-selection (CPS) and indirect access (IA) where BT's retail arm provides the retail access line"
This could be bad news for people who rely on indirect codes for making their calls.
Removing the obligation does not, of course, mean the facility will definitely be withdrawn immediately but, in time, I think it will."

You can still use 18185 if bt stop you by using their freephone access number.0

To be fair it might just mean BT can fund 'free' BT Sport without so many price increases for the 90% of its customers who don't even take it's BT Sport channel. Which would be a much fairer way of doing things (short of actually charging for BT Sport instead of stinging those who don't use it by increasing prices across the whole customer base so often). 'Free' BT Sport was always going to be a marketing term. I would love to know how many punters who use one of these indirect access numbers for all their calls have the 'free' BT Sports. I bet it's a high %tage0

18185 is the indirect access (IA) code which is potentially at risk.
I doubt if the 0808 access number would ever be blocked, even users on BT basic (who cannot use IA codes) are able to call the 0808 access number.
So probably not a big deal unless the user makes a lot of long calls (1p/min via the 0808 access number instead of 0p/min).0 -
