Claiming Money Back for Concert Missed Due to Traffic?

Hi,
Firstly I'm ever so sorry if this isn't the right subforum--I looked everywhere and this looked like the most fitting one. If not, please feel free to direct my post to another subforum and I'll sort it right away.
I'm posting on behalf of a friend, who is currently stuck on the M11 near the Harlow junction due to an oil spill and car accident that occured around noon today. She's on her way to the O2 to see Fleetwood Mac, but she honestly doesn't think they'll be able to make the show after all.
She spent a lot of money on the tickets and she's concerned that if she doesn't make the show, she'll lose the money. Can anyone advise me whether or not she can claim money back on the tickets from any sort of highway/motorway authority?
Thanks in advance for any help you can provde.

I very much doubt it . . . did she eventually make it to the venue?0

As it would be extremely doubtful that the Highways Agency were the cause of the accident, she would be wasting her time trying to claim. If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0

No chance what soever.
But hope she did make it in time to see some of it anyway.make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.0 -
what is the world coming to? its her responsibility to get herself to concert. it sucks she missed it but get real.0

To late now but if she was stuck at Harlow on the M11 she could have got off and got on the M25 there and go round the north circ0

Certain ticket agencies offer insurance exactly for these circumstances -it's usually offered on the payment page -Your friend should check they don't already hve cover.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole

It was an accident - so I can't see knock-on effects being anything you could claim against anyone over, and probably just as well, I think - imagine if you had an accident on a motorway and all the people delayed by your crash could claim for consequential loss . I wondered if travel insurance might cover it, if she has annual policy, but I think that would be a long shot. The best bet might be event insurance purchased when you buy tickets, I guess, something like these:

and

Anyway, I hope she got there for at least part of the evening, and had a good time. I have to say I always think any day when I get caught in a delay following an accident is a lucky day, because I wasn't involved in the accident itself - ten minutes earlier on my journey and a missed concert might have been the least of my worries.Reason for edit? Hi there, i too missed the concert due to the M11 chaos and am checking to see if we can claim anything back as its in the region of £300. We are absolutely gutted, having booked in February. Sorry, but its nice to know there are other people in this situation as i dont feel alone now. Perhaps we could all get together and claim en mass.
Can i just say to mandragora that the man involved was on his mobile phone and lost concentration - i have NO sympathy for him, one stupid act caused misery for approximately 50,000 people!,0 -
Were you stuck on the M11 or could you have got off and got the train? Has the concert already started?:j Trytryagain FLYLADY - SAYE £700 each month Premium Bonds £713 Mortgage Was £100,000@20/6/08 now zilch 21/4/15:beer: WTL - 52 (I'll do it 4 MUM)0
