Paying for someone else mortgage from my current account
double-slit
Dear all,
Is it possible to pay for my stepdaughter mortgage short term (with Nationwide) from my current account (Barclays Bank),
I will like to help her,and I have internet banking which i am not sure how i do this transaction.
A standing order is what ideally I would like, direct to pay the mortgage only, the only options on my on-line screen are sort code and account number.
Any Ideas.
PS:I have just joined the Forum today,so i am just finding my way.

I would imagine that she would need to contact the mortgage company and give them your bank details to take the direct debit from rather than her own.
I would also imagine that it is a condition of the mortgage that the payments are made by direct debit, and so a standing order would probably not be allowed.0 -
Can you not just pay a standing order to her account for the day before her mortgage comes out? Or is there a chance she'll spend it or something like that so you want to pay the mortgage directly?
If you want to pay directly she'll need to inform the provider of your bank details.0 -
When she informs nationwide of the change in account details they'll want to talk to you to authorise the payment.0

It's not only a case of spending the money once it hits the account, but a case of spending the money _before_ it hits the account. Can you not just pay a standing order to her account for the day before her mortgage comes out? Or is there a chance she'll spend it or something like that so you want to pay the mortgage directly?
if the account has entered an unauthorised overdraft then even if the OP credited enough for the mortgage the bank may refuse to pay the DD as it would put them back into the unauthorised.0
