Trouble getting bank account

Have got my appointment for BR on 25th June but am worried about opening a new bank account as I currently bank with Smile (Co-op) and as i have an overdraft of £500 with them (obviously this will be within the bankruptcy). they did say i could open a cashminder account but werent sure if i had my current account as part of the bankruptcy they would allow me to have another account with them - Anyway i applied for the cashminder ac over the phone and dont hold much hope as they asked me my salary (£738) and mortgage payments (538) and council tax (80) and said i would get a letter in the post - so basically this leads me to believe its a big fat NO - why dont they ever ask about Tax credits (1100 per month) and other income. The nationwide said they offer a basic account but it is credit scored. This is my only other option but cant see how i would get an account with them if it is done on credit scoring as obviously all my credit is now down as defaults!!:o
The last option is a post office account? (all other accounts are attached to debts i have unfortunately)
Surely there is some kind of account us bankrupts can use?
what happens about direct debits if you cannot get an account that allows them?
Oh and another question i have.... when i see the OR how long will it be before they take possession of the house and we have to leave, is it days, weeks months??
and if the OR thinks i dont need my car (i think i do.. 2 children one school one nursery opposite ends of town and then i have to drive 8 miles to work... its hard enough to get to work before 9 as it is let alone relying on buses and taxis etc) what happens if i give up work (not worth the hassle and expense if dont have transport) will i have to wait 26 weeks to go on Income support because i have given up my job??
Sorry so many last minute questions and probably the answers are on here somewhere already!!;)
All help gratefully received x

I can't advise you on the other issues, but with regard to bank accounts I suggest you have a look at the sticky at the top of the forum here

The basic Nationwide Flex account is not credit scored. Many bankrupts, including myself have applied for and got one after BR. It is only a history of fraud that may get you declined.
The Nationwide account also has online banking, DD's and standing orders, so there are no problems there.
The facilities offered by all the basic accounts are details on the page 9 of this document:

This guide on the IS site tells you about what will happen to your house, in basic terms:

The whole car question is complex, but in essence you need to convince the OR that you need it for your employment and domestic needs.

I think the person i spoke to on the phone at my local Nationwide Branch (Chippenham Wiltshire) obviously didnt know her stuff. Tut Tut! it is so annoying when people talk down to you as though you are not worth the bother!!!!!!!!! she also told me i would need to hold an existing account with them?? Anyway the Nationwide seems the best one as online banking and DD's make things so much easier. Thanks for your post x0
