One of my friends has just announced that she is expecting her first child. I'd like to get her a little keepsake but stuck for ideas. I don't want something for the baby when it's here. I want something to mark her pregnancy. I make wooden plaques a d signs a d had thought of doing a free standing star with her due date, but wondered if that we're a bit tacky?!
Any ideas?

Don't do anything until baby arrives. Bad omens and all that.Trying to be a man is a waste of a woman0

I have just had a baby and I really wouldn't have liked anything like that. It's tempting fate!
If you want to do something for her then, if your budget allows, a massage or facial would be lovely. I was given a mummy to be package at my local salon and it was lovely!0 -
I'd suggest a massage or something too. Or even a haircut!
When I was pregnant, people brought things but didn't give them to us. Apart from Xmas, we got a few babygrows and stuff addressed to 'bean'
Actually, just a thought. I saw it and thought 'I wish I brought that when I was pregnant' ..... not that I would have had anywhere to put it haha - Your friend might like it though. Its a cast of the bumpI saw it in John Lewis. Argos sell one too.
However, with her only just announcing it. I'd wait a while before giving a gift.....Christmas would probably be a good time. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
It's a lovely thought but i'd have felt a bit uneasy about it and the chances are the baby won't be born on it's due date so the date might seem a bit odd in a few years.
I'd have like a manicure, my nails were soo lovely when I was pregnant! Or a foot massage, or support cushion but the best presents I got from friends were after the baby was born and I they came round with home cooked meals for us. Amazing in the early days when you can't seem to find the time to get dressed!0 -
Why not buy a pregnancy diary? That way your friend can document her experience and keep it to look back on with her child in the future?0

That's the sort of thing I was after, thanks! Lovely idea. Putting a little pamper kit of pregnancy essentials like a body butter for stretch marks, gaviscon... What were your essentials? My due date was so important to me through both pregnancies for different reasons. I went two weeks over with my first and 4 days with my second. I still remember the excitement those dates brought x0 -

Indeed a pregnancy diary is always a great option you can add some memorable photographs with that diary to make it more special.0
