    Degus, interesting!

    Always wanted a degu.

    I have guinea pigs, which I believe are cousins. Pet mice too. Will look into this a bit further. Might have a non- human use for those acorns.

  • There are beech nuts, too. They are tiny, but nice to snack on.

    I always understood acorns were toxic to degus (and any oak tree derivative) because of the tannins in them.

  • I've never heard that that they were toxic for them.

    We only gave them a couple each day & they loved them. It didn't seem to do them any harm They recently died of old age....honest. :cry:

    I love degus (currently pet-sitting my friends two). The first time I looked after them I thought I'd better find out a bit about them and found this website great as they have a list of things that are toxic.
