Smart price chocolate - I give it top marks. I made some truffles other week there for a competion and I got first price - over heard one of the other competiors say they used Lindt chocolate - didn't let on mine were made with smart price.

  • I agree smartprice chcoclate is fab its the only one i buy for cooking and eating :)

    Smartprice rice top marks
  • I tend to shop more at tesco than Asda lately, but, off the top of my head ...

The Smartprice grated cheddar actually works out cheaper than most of the other block cheeses by weight ... reasonable medium flavour, good for quick sandwiches and for cooking (my hands don't let me grate cheese any more). It will sometimes look a bit powdery in the pack, that happens when they've overdosed the potato starch used to stop it clumping, but doesn't change the flavour that much.

Smartprice cheese and tomato pizzas are good, though you'll probably find you'll want to add more cheese (see above :D )

And the Smartprice version of Philadelphia, whilst a bit bland on its own, is good when mixed with other sandwich fillings, or added to hot pasta with seasoning.

  • I give a vote for the Smart Price garlic bread - both chilled and frozen. Maybe because I prefer my garlic bread slightly milder and not so garlic-y, but I would buy this before I would reach for a more expensive one, no doubt.
  • Smart price instant hot chocolate - very nice but a bit too sweet (if that's Possible!) so I use slightly less than they reccomend
  • I used to do a full weekly shop of smart price brands and I prefer them to top brands on everything except bread, frozen burgers and shampoo/conditioner. We live on smart price noodles and buy 20+ packs at a time xxx

    First house purchase ... 2018 :j
  • These are some of the thinhs I regularly buy:

Smartprice custard creams, bourbons and chocolate digestives - all good.

Smartprice pasta tubes and spaghetti - also good.

Sorry I don't know the prices.

I've stopped shopping regularly at Asda now and have forsaken them for Aldi but I do go occasionally to stock up on things I miss. I understand that OP doesn't have this option.:)

Another vote for the SP pizzas. DD buys them regularly. Fine for LOs but you/they can add other toppings to jazz them up.

I like SP pasta especially lasagne sheets and spaghetti. SP washing powder is great, used it for years.

Not strictly SP but I buy their bags of beansprouts. They're the best value around (I think 50p for 310g) and recently discovered you can freeze them. Just open freeze on a dinner plate and then add to stir-fry/casserole as needed.

Haven't had them in a while but the only thing I think I've had in Smartprice is the jaffa cakes and they were very good!
