Csa problem

Options
Hi all

I've split up with my ex and I have my daughter twice a week over night and the day time I have had a call from csa today 6 months after the split stating the ex has made a claim for it based on my earning I would have to pay 36pw and also provide for my daughter when I have her do u think I should say that the ex should provide nappies and wipes and clothes if I am paying csa please bare in mind I do believe the money would not go on her our previous agreement was I provide when I have her and the ex provides when she has her

  • No, i would say you to provide. Trust me, £36 a week is not very much money. Napppies, wipes, clothing, food, heat, water, rent etc etc cost way more then that a week! Of course your daughter sees the money or is she homeless, wearing inappropiate clohting, starving and nappyless?
  • Also, you would have been given a discount in the calculation so that your not paying full assessment for overnight visits with you so you can provide for your child.
  • I forgot to mention my ex is on benefits full housing and ctax and our previous budget she was 100. Better off normally
  • How could she be £100 better off on your previous agreement if you didn't ever give her any money?

The fact she receives benefits is neither here nor there. Its not the taxpayers job to pay for your child, its yours and your exes. She wont be on benefits forever due to the changes.

You should provide everything your child needs while she is in your care. You have her 2 nights and her mother has her 5. The £36 you pay will help her mother pay for, food, nappies, heat, light, water, toys, treats etc, i bet she spends more than that a week/per month on your daughter. You say you ex does'nt spend the money on your daughter, is she neglected?
  • I know the tax payer do not pay for my daughter and this is because I provided stuff as and when she asked on top of when I had her providing food and nappies .etc
  • Your first post said your arrangement is you paid for stuff when kid with you, and your ex paid for stuff when kid with her? Now your saying you do provide for your child when you don't have your child?

Trust me, £36 a week, you have got off lightly.

And FYI, the taxpayer does pay for your child aside from the small contribution you have/will be giving by keeping a roof over their head etc.
  • We'll if I am true I can give u pictures of horrid flea bytes on my daughter and I have been to the gp four times in regards to these bytes and I have spoken to her mother and said she has flea I walked into the flat and when I got out I had to pick fleas out of my beard the only reason my days are two is because of work and my hour I start at 8 and finish at 11 on most days the other days I will have her during the day before work when I start at 3pm I'll pick her up at 8am. And drop her off at 2pm so really I have her 2 night and 2 days

Does the mother have a pet?...Fleas can be quite hard to get rid of if the house is infested. Maybe offer to help her clear the house of the pests? You stated though that the money you gave the mother did'nt go on the child, is she fed and clothed, clean and kept warm?
  • You will have been given an allowance during your calculation for shared care, so to answer your question from a legal standing, the is under no obligation to pay anything during your childs over night stays, whether she does or not is up to her.
