company owes me money - how to get it

I'm owned money from a estate agency next move midlands ltd that owes me near £4000... The company was a limited company and is currently being wound up... So they are in the process of being writ off I think..... In January the director of the company contact me about the money owed writing that they take full responsibility for the debt of 4000 and would begin monthly payments come may.... May came and went with no money or contact... Can I take the company to court.. Or the director who promised the money In a written letter. I have no idea of there home address ,all emails and phone numbers are ignored, the business address is now closed and new shop owners have moved in...

Have you checked to see if you are recorded as a creditor with the administrators?
If the business has no assets, then you end up with nothing. Otherwise you end up in the list of creditors owed money where you may get some pence in the pound. I'm afraid you need to be prepared to end up with nothing or just a very small amount.I am an Independent Financial Adviser (IFA).
