I'm just about to buy a new car ...... not a cheap one either, times are right for buying!
I've got money in the Bank - each £100k just earns me £1.5k a year before tax, take the 45% tax off and what's the point? No point whatsoever .... so, bring me the Aston Martin - I wish to live a little!
Saving is for mugs now ....... I'm opting for living!! Cash is just a number.
I would have thought someone smart like you would have it invested wisely not squirrelled away in the bank.

Of course bunging it some carefully selected funds might get a bit more than that - tax free if you only take the profits in annual slugs of around £10K.
With inflation at, say, 3%, then your savings are actually depreciating at around 2.2%. I'm sure you car won't depreciate by the same amount....0 -
Thing is, I would rather let the car depreciate as I'm enjoying it than money in the bank worth less and less each month without it giving me any pleasure at all ....... even knowing I have some wealth behind me doesn't equate to the depreciation I'm suffering.
I'm going back to the garage to have another look at this car ..... I'm trying not to spend the money, but I'm old and it's doing nothing for my income now.Bringing Happiness where there is Gloom!0 -

At my age I cannot put at risk anything really - it secured funds and that doesn't pay more than 1.5% now.
I give up Mr Osbourne - I'm going to assist your consumer led recovery tonight probably if this car captures my soul ...Bringing Happiness where there is Gloom!0
