The Federal Reserve is the biggest hedge fund in the world.

And by definition the biggest rigger of markets.
The banks no longer even need real people, doing real stuff in a real economy. They just print more money, drive up prices and give the illusion of improving economic activity.

I'm not sure that much is spent on "propping" up house prices when you look at what was spent to "prop" up the banks or used for QE. It's probably a fraction compared to that...

So housing has not benefitted one jjot from propping up the banks, funding for lending, QE or low ineterest rates?

I appreciate it wasn't all done solely for the benefit of housing.

    Mark Carney's job description:

    • Drive up prices
    • Give the illusion of improving economic activity
    • Don't do stuff in the real economy
    • Tell us when there's a house price bubble
Sounds like he earns his £847,000 then.

I think he needs a bonus.

That is about the size of it.

Anyway, my comments about the fed were not mine, but this guy's...

These are the people that QE and other market manipulations are helping.

Your point has changed from "so much effort" propping up the housing market
Surprising that so much effort goes into propping it up really, let alone debate here.
    to now

agreeing that the economic measures put in place where to address the major issues economic issues and not "prop" up house prices.

Pedantism aside are you saying that the housing market hasn't benefited?

Of course it has so have many other areas of the economy as a result of the economic action taken to help the economy.

The housing market being directly "propped up" is a fraction of the measures put in place to fix the results of the economic crisis which is my point from the outset.

The real point that you missed is that the housing market is only a small area of the economy.

There are much more important issues to deal with than house prices...
It may be a small part of the economy, but has a massive effect on people lives. Something that seems to be taken for granted by the powers that be.

Very true, build yourself a banner, get yourself a tent and pitch it outside the Houses of Parliament.

They may take notice of you...
