StepChange Advice

  • Hi
This is my first post on here so apologies for the outpouring of words.
I am in the process of setting up my first DMP with StepChange who have been great
My debts are mostly with the Halifax/Bank of Scotland and at the moment my Bank Account Is an Easycash with the Bank of Scotland. I have opened a new bank account with an unrelated bank but it will be a month or so until my salary will go into it.
It was the Bank of Scotland who originally verbally indicated I may be better of contacting a debt charity regarding my debts (they actually mentioned Payplan and gave me their number). Does anyone know the likelihood of the Bank of Scotland/Halifax using Easycash account to take money from that to allocate to other Bank of Scotland/Halifax debt. StepChange called me last night to warn me it that it may be a possibility which is why I opened a new account elsewhere.
I am really concerned that as soon as my salary goes into my Easycash account the Bank my access it to allocate to debts before the new account is fully set up
Does anyone have any experience of something similar happening?
    Many thanks in advance
  • Hi DacDesigns

ref the comment by Issuma and the self managed DMP I would say go for it - take a look at the NEDCAB website for template letters and so on and manage it all yourself. puts you in the driving seat and in control - and if I can do it anyone can!;)

best of luck whatever you decide to do
  • I have decided that I don't feel comfortable not paying up and going in a DMP for 10 years, so I'm going to sell anything and everything and get a weekend job. I have had sleepless nights, I have never missed payments and feel sick with worry. Wish me luck lol
