help what do i write????

hi its my husbands grandads funeral next week we went to order the flowers yesterday and the florist gave us a card to write on we didnt know what to write on it so we brought it a way with us and weve got to drop it back off, problem is we really really dont know what to write, i mean what do you write on funeral flowers? any ideas thanks in advance

These things are always difficult to get right. It depends if you are religious or not I suppose. I've seen the typical short messages of "God Bless You" "Rest in Peace" etc... But I like to put something a bit more personal on the card. For my Nana, i think I wrote something like " Thanks for birghtening my days with your smiles...we will all miss you."

maybe there was something particularly special about Grandad that you could mention, some fond memory, some happy moment you can reflect upon, something you want to thank him for? Mourners do tend to read the cards on the flowers so i think it is nice to give them a smile too and help them to remember the happy times etc...

My Grandad died last week and I struggled with the card.

In the end I put "you will always live on in our hearts".

For my Dad's funeral I wrote "Miss and love you Dad, all the world and back again"

Sounds a bit cheesy but it's what we used to say when we joked (I was 33, he was 55, lol) so you can write something a bit personal and jokey, and remember when he was here.

I would imagine that by now it may be to late but I always think you should write what you feel. And a good one is always Love you and miss you but so grateful for the time we had and the wisdom you gave me!
