How long do things keep after freezing?

If I make some flapjacks and cakes a month ahead of when I want to use them how long will they keep once I take them out of the freezer? I am going on holiday and normally make both these to take with me, but its always such a huge rush.

Also if I take out meals that I have pre frozen, will these be ok a day or two later? chilli, and stews.

Thanks

I would imagine the cakes would keep for the same length of time had you not frozen them. When I do this I take a few out at a time, obviously you can't do this if you are going on holiday. In which case I would say three days for freshness. I would imagine fruit cake would keep longer of course.

Frozen meals I defrost in the fridge overnight and eat the following tea time so I only give them 24hrs inc. defrosting times. I wouldn't risk them being out of the fridge for any length of time.

Just allow maybe a day's less keeping time for cakes etc. Flapjacks do very well, but some cakes don't - so be aware. I used to make a fruit cake which keeps beautifully without taking up space in my freezer. Flapjacks will keep up to a week if you wrap them tightly in foil.
Rough rule for meals coming out of the freezer is 12-24 hours at room temp & 24-48 in the fridge.
I usually use the frozen meal as a sort of extra cold block - it goes into the cold box as we are packing it up in the morning (or even night before) and then it is usually de-frosted in time for dinner.
