Slow Cooker Capacity

A question from a novice slow cooker user, I want to buy one which has a capacity of 3.5l. Is that generally enough to feed a family of 4?

I'm useless with measurements, sorry :o

Mine is 3.5l I live on my own but find if I fill it say with a chilli or stew or whatever, there is genrally around 6-8 portions easily. This will do me and a friend if I have a friend over for tea, a portion for lunch the next day, with a few portions left over to be labelled up and put in the freezer for cheap/healthy/quick meals during the week.

The only thing is I struggle to fit in big joints of meat or say a whole chicken if you want to do a chicken in there. But if you're only doing stews/chillis/currys etc then should be plenty big enough.
This is WAY more fun than monopoly.
  • Hi, I have just replaced a 6.5l slow cooker for a 3.5l slow cooker and must say, I do prefer the smaller one. The 6.5 I found to be too big and when doing casseroles etc, we ended up with lots of 'juice' left but not really enough for another meal for anyone.

There are 4 of us here and it easily managed a chicken chasseur for us all at the weekend.
