---

Has anyone had to get loft insulation recently?

I need to pick up some rolls of glass or mineral wool insulation. Enough for 200m2 roughly, 270mm thickness.

Doesn't matter where the supplier is, I can collect. I'm just looking for the cheapest option.

Thanks

Had a PowerNI guy out yesterday doing an Insulation survey on the house,
you may/may not get this done free depending on your circumstances, see here http://powerni.co.uk/saving-energy/insulation/free-insulation/
  • Thanks Tommie but I need to buy the stuff myself.

Try Killeen Hardware / Builders Suppliers just outside Armagh on the Newry road.

Most stuff for our house came through there when it was being built and we found them to be great - not sure what level of discount they will offer on a one off, but definitely worth a phone call.

I am also interested in this, I need about 35 rolls of 200mm insulation. Got a quote of £490 delivered from Carryduff building supplies but that's dear compared to the price of the B&Q £3 a roll stuff a few years ago.

Encon in Belfast (Queen's road) might be a good bet. They are the suppliers to builders yards. I'm sure they would not turn away a cash sale.

  • Thanks guys, I'll check them both out. I don't need them delivered, so hopefully I'll be able to negotiate a bit. I imagine the delivery adds a fair bit.

It’s crazy how much B&Q are asking.

by my calculations I think carryduff and Encon were charging me about £50 for delivery.

£50 isn't bad for transport considering the amount of space it takes up.
