Negotiating with venue

Hi,

Apologies if this seems quite a basic query but when booking venues what have you been able to negotiate on? The venue that we're looking at doesnt do a package option, there is a basic price for venue hire then everything else that we choose added on top so not too sure if there is room for negotiating at all.

Depending on how many 'options' you are choosing maybe ask for a flat rate % discount on all of them or if you have a few different ones ask them to give you an option of two for free or add in everything you want and then just ask them if you can have a discount based on numbers, dates, season or just because.

How about asking them to price match another venue?

I picked my ideal package at another similar venue and asked them to match it. They couldn't provide certain things in it (centerpieces, disco etc) so I totalled up the price of sourcing these myself and asked them to subtract the cost from their package price... in the end we split the difference. xx
