Where to start paying off debts

Hello,
I hope someone on here can help.
I am trying to help my partner sort out his debts. He has numerous companies he hasn't paid anything to for ages and he is hopefully soon going to be in a position start making payments/clearing some of the debts. We have his Credit Expert account to see what is outstanding and when last default was etc (listed below) but should we just write to them and send payment/offer agreement? And there is one company on there Lowell Portfolio which I think is a company who has bought the debt from someone else but it doesn't say on there who the original debt is with. Is there are way of finding out?
Audi Finance - balance outstanding £2,235
Payment Term £373 x 24 - Status Defaulted
Virgin Media - Balance outstanding £135 default date 25/09/10 - Status Defaulted
O2 - Balance outstanding £35 default date 29/08/10 Status defaulted
MKDP LLP - Balance outstanding £3077 default date 16/10/09
Lowell Portfolio - balance outstanding £629 default date 28/06/09
Barclays - balance outstanding £1040 default date 14/11/08
Barclays - balance outstanding £7692 default date 12/01/09
Barclays - balance outstanding £5692 default date 14/08/09
Aktiv Kapital - balance outstanding £626 default date 23/09/09
CCJ - balance outstanding £726 start date 08/06/09
I have been lucky to not have defaulted on any payments so I would appreciate advise from anyone with more knowledge about making contact with companies, who to pay off first (I think CCJ) so he can start to get things sorted.
Thanks in advance for any help you can give us.

Hi
Has he been paying anything towards his debts at any point? has he paid anything since the defaults? Have any not been paid for quite some time before the defaults?
Does he know who obtained the CCJ? its quite possibly the same debt as one of those listed? if he doesn't then he needs to obtain a copy of the judgement from the court that issued it.
Is he certain he hasn't been paying towards the CCJ (e.g. via an attachment of earnings from his wages).
You mention lowell and that you don't know what that debt relates to - does that mean you do know what debts the other debt collectors are chasing (activ and MKDP)?
He could write to lowell and refer to the entry on his credit file and ask them to provide details and proof of the alleged debt.
Is he currently being chased by any of his creditors? if this is the first time he had accessed his credit file he may find that they start chasing again now he has provided/confirmed his current address.
If he can afford to pay lump sums towards his debts he may get want to try offering full & final settlements (a reduced amount in full & final settlement of the debt).

Hi Tixy,
He hasn't paid anything towards any debts since he defaulted and I think payments before were sprodic.
He doesn't know what the CCJ is for, so thanks we will right to them and ask. I assume once we establish what it is for, we just pay the CCJ and tell the other company? He definitely hasn't been paying anything towards the CCJ
MKDP have chased since he changed his address so we know this is for HSBC but actually we don't know what the other company relates to so we will ask them also?
If we are offering a full and final settlement on any of the accounts, any ideas what they are likely to accept or is it purely a negiotation between him and them?
thanks for your help so far0
