A big tub of flavoured yoghurt to use TODAY

I'm so cross with my o/h. He regularly buys big tubs of flavoured yoghurt and for the past couple of weeks he hasn't felt like eating it! I discoverd a big tub of it this morning which needs using today! Any ideas? I've put natural yoghurt in cake before to use it up but this tub is raspberry or strawberry flavoured and the tub is about 450g I think.

Could you not just make frozen yoghurt?
  • This might not be to some people's thinking but in my fridge if yogurt is a day or two past the date on the label it still gets eaten!

I would either make some frozen yogurt pops (or pots if you have no moulds) or just eat it over the next couple of days

  • I often eat yoghourt after the date, it's a culture after all, so should last a bit longer.

However, here are some ideas for you.

I am the same.. so long as it isn't furry or the lid puffed up if that first spoonful tastes ok I eat the rest too... Food doesn't know what day it is so doesn't suddenly go rancid at the stroke of midnight.

Just freeze it as ice lollies or feed him it poured over fruit or ice cream for dessert

Ah I feel better now! The date was actually up yesterday, but thought I would put today just in case any hounded me for eating out of date food! :o

I have eaten yoghurt a good few days out of date so I think I may just eat it over the next two. And ban the other half from buying any this week!

Me too! Am constantly debating this point with my sister, she won't touch it but unless its visibly "gassy" in the pot, I take the view that my stomach can deal with it. It's in fact probably got a higher culture count ;)

Where I used to work there was one girl who took it upon herself to be fridge monitor and would regularly chuck out any food on or a day over it's date without asking the owner (all food was labelled so it was obvious whose it was).

Until the day that her lunch vanished out of the fridge and was eventually discovered in the bin (tupperware box too!). She never touched the food in the fridge after that. I wish I knew who had done that - was always sorely tempted myself! Would have thanked them. :)

I use flavoured yogurt in berry muffins. It's delicious and everyone always asks about my secret ingredient!
  • And if you want justification, I read an article on the Beeb website this morning that actually gives you permission to eat ood yogurt. ;)
