Yes you are probably right that in a hot country it may have been difficult to walk.
Would be interested to know what happened to the hotel shuttle buses though.
I wouldn't want to walk it. It's a dusty road(Ghost Road) and there is no walkway or pavement. It is possible to detour down the road around the lake and cut through one of the malls, but it's hardly convenient.

The shuttle buses were not running every half hour only if you phoned for collection or stated a time for coming back.Neither was a great option as the phones were down for several days and if the weather turned bad you couldn't contact them. The road was narrow, uneven and frequently flooded. Our son is autistic so he is not physically incapable of walking it just makes it difficult to steer him away from traffic"Sometimes life sucks....but the alternative is unacceptable."0

You didn't answer the question. Was the brochure description different from the website description?
If not, I can see you having a problem, unless you made representation to the Tour Op in good time.
A good Tour Op would have arranged a move to a more convenient resort if you were willing to pay.
So on this basis, Virgin may offer a goodwill payment, but the hotel is as described on the website.
Would you agree?0 -
The brochure clearly states 800 metres, very obvious, and clear. Virgin shouldn't rely on someone doing further research in case the figures they state are untrue.
However, I don't think 800 metres or 1800 metres make much difference, as Donnie states, you wouldn't walk either distance.0 -
Happens here, too. I was looking at holiday cottages in Wales yesterday, and saw a really nice one that said "near Carnaerfon" (no I can't spell it!). I stuck the name of the village into Google, and "near" turned out to mean "12 miles".
Glad I didn't book it.
Sorry to hear of your experience.0
