Superhero Costumes

Me and my OH have been invited to a 30th birthday party later this year
with a superhero fancy dress theme
Neither of us are very creative and neither of us want to spend out on 'shop bought' costumes that we'll only ever wear once, are of poor quality and I'm sure cost more than my day to day clothes!
So, I'm wondering if anyone has any ideas for superhero costumes (male and female) which we could use please?

If you don't want to buy costumes then maybe create your own superheros - rather than famous ones! Use make-up and draw on masks, try and find something superhero-ey in your wadrobes then create a cape. Tada! Superheros hehe
However, you can buy costumes pretty cheap from ebayThis is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
of top of my head Batman and Catwomen.
Mr and Mrs incredible
Or
Joker and Harley Quinn Viliians (friends went as these and looked really good and different)
The joker and Quinn one would be easiest to improvise at a Props hire shop, like the ones theatre companies and pantos use, (That's what I tend to do at least) very good quality, and at the right time of year can be very good value for money.0 -
Superman as Clark Kent - superman T shirt under shirt & tie & glasses.
Whatever looks slightly mad men/tailored alongside as Lois Lane? (Plus reporter's notebook.)
Sharpest suit, hair gel, major attitude - who else but Bruce Wayne?
Cat woman - all black slinky, add ears, tail & whiskers sketched on with kohl pencil...
Generic mask & cape & let the geeks tell you....0 -
Primark have superhero t-shirts if you don't have any.
Google is your friend - there are plenty of how to's on there0 -

I'd try and avoid the obvious ones personally- you run the risk of dressing the same as someone else!
Super villains would be a bit outside the box- agree with 4th and 10 that Joker and Harley Quinn would look great. There are various outfit designs for them so you could pick one you'd both comfortable with.
How about Bananaman? I've always thought it would be funny to go as Eric, have people whinge you're not in costume, then eat a banana and changed as quickly as you can into Bananaman.
If you want something especially easy there are loads of super hero themed adult onesies around at the moment- I've seen several Bat Mans and Super Mans.0 -
Ebay have some cheap superhero T shirts, 2 quid plus 2 quid delivery.0
