Childs bike seat help!

I really love my Giant Cypress DX ladies bike (2009 model) but I need to fit a child seat onto it, and I'm struggling to find any that fit onto the back but don't foul the wheel. Halfords universal doesn't fit - we bought one and tried it.

It looks roughly like this http://www.flcuk.com/bikes/womens/leisure/p366s199/giant-cypress-dx-ladies-2009-archived.htm As you can see there's not much proper seat frame height under the saddle to fit a bike seat too. I have tried google but no luck so hoping someone might have suggestions on here?

It looks like it has mounting points above the rear wheel axle, and more on the rear seat stays near where they meet the seat tube.

Most childrens bike seats fit to a conventional bike rack, so that the rack bears the weight of the child.
Most decent bike racks come with a set of brackets. You bolt the "legs" of the rack to the mount points near the wheel axle, and then use some combination of brackets to mount the rack to the bosses higher up, and position it correctly. Then the seat clamps on to the rack.

There is another design of child seat that clamps to the seat tube, and uses a cantilevered pole to support the weight of the child, but there doesn't look to be enough seat tube space to mount one of those on a Giant Cypress.

I would approach a good local bike shop. they should be able to supply a rack that fits safely and securely, or advise you if not.

    Something like this?

    Or is that not practical?

Giant make their own child carrier - The Giant Progeny

Perhaps get a local Giant dealer to call Giant UK and ask them about compatibility?
Change is inevitable, except from a vending machine.
