psudonyms on entries

i wondered if any of you compers perhaps use a psudonym / alt name for comping. my work place has quite strict rules on what we can/cannot be linked with online so i use a psudonym on (nearly) all of my entries. the only ones i dont are the chance of a cash prize (cheques need to be in the right name etc) and holidays where they perhaps need to be booked in my name.

anyone else do this or had any problems doing this?

Unless you have a very unique name how would your work know it was you ?

I'm cursed/blessed with a very googleable name, and that's why I keep separate social media accounts for "professional me" vs "me me"

(and also why I don't allow work to link to any of my accounts, except LinkedIn)

I can understand why, in certain professions where you are likely to get googled (PR and such) that work would have these restrictions.

Perhaps a first initial middle name surname approach would work if your surname isn't too noticable?

I think that it would be acceptable to use a derivation of your name, so for example if your name was Robert, you could put Bobby, but I wouldn't put anything that was totally unlike my real name.

I have comped via an "alternative" name for as long as I have used MSE.In that time I have won numerous prizes,including major travel prizes,and it has never caused any problems.
I even use a "mistyped" DOB as well :-)

yeah both my first name and my surname are very "different" (thanks mam!) so i use something totally different. im glad im not the only one. just had a flap the other day incase it would stop me claiming prizes

I have never had an issue with it.I comp via a shortened version of my middle name & any ID that I would provide would show my full name.

I'm thinking I might start using a fake name as I share my name with a very famous model and it makes googling impossible!
