Child's jacket from Fraser store

I bought my nephew his school jacket on 10 July this year.
I noticed last week the stitching around the cuff is coming away.
I went into the shop with receipt to ask for a replacement as the jacket was faulty. I was told that I bought the jacket more than 28 days ago and nothing could be done. Tried to explain he didn't
Wear the jacket until he started school few weeks ago. She just continued to quote its was over 28 days even despite me saying that parents buy school clothes weeks earlier to get organised she just would not listen.
Is she in the right.
Many thanks.

They are not in the right. If the jacket is inherently faulty then they have to repair, replace or refund. As it is less than 6 months since you bought the item then it will be assumed to be inherently faulty unless it can be proven otherwise. Their 28 day returns policy is irrelevant and cannot overrule your statutory rights.0
