I can see a few recipes in there
    Minestrone soup
    Tin of tomatoes
    250ml hot vegetable stock
some spaghetti broken into small pieces
    clove of garlic
    oil preferably olive
    salt and pepper
    basil if you have it
a little grated cheese if you have it

Heat a saucepan with a little oil in it
Add the tomatoes and stock, bring to the boil and add the pasta
Add the vegetables and bring back to the boil
Reduce the heat and simmer for a few minutes, then season to taste and add basil if you have it.
Serve with grated cheese and sliced basic garlic bread (33p)

Use the savoury mince to make a bolognaise or a meatloaf with home made tomato sauce

Dinosaurs, waffles and beans for another meal

The peaches are lovely topped with a sponge mix and served with custard or as a peach crumble.

I take it that there are only 2 of you at present, so £20 a week is perfectly doable.
Blessed are the cracked for they are the ones that let in the light

Would you like me to see what I can come up with meal plan wise?
What supermarkets do you have close by and do you have a local butcher, greengrocer or market?

Fish is generally too expensive per portion....although you should have one oily fish portion per week it's not essential. Sardines are much cheaper canned from Lidl so that should suffice.
    :footie:
:p Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) :p Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money. :p
  • Do you like mackerel and tuna? Both are relatively cheap and tasty

I don't think we are entitled to healthy start... DH earns a bit too much for us to get them unfortunately.
We are cutting back and budgeting though so it should get better very soon.
    It's just this horrible October!!

  • I do not shop in lidl or Morrisons, so I am finding it hard to find the prices so I will use a mixture of Asda and Tesco for a ball park figure if that is ok
