If you need to disguise the jeans they're not appropriate in the first place!
Agree that anything you find uncomfortable to wear is a no no as you will look uncomfortable in the interview.
Don't quite understand the comment about judging the gender bias? But anyway I am a man and I'm gay, so imagining how my partner would dress is not going to help me advise OP!
Complete high five on that one Southend1, I thought of gay partnerships when I posted my comment but I never expected anyone else to comment so respect on that one.
It is a difficult call but I think anything black in the trouser line should work. The key is in how the ensemble works and having a gay comment on a partner's appearance is absolutely the same as judging a straight (we didn't start off with heterosexual and homosexual tags so I am sticking with it although I hate the term 'straight' because it implies that the alternative is 'bent', IMO an unacceptable label) relationship view. To explain further - men would be suspicious if their partner went to an informal interview in a low-cut top... and rightly so because the interviewer could be female (irrespective of whether she is straight or gay she may not like her own assets [Lordy, I hate that Page 3 term] being put to test for comparison). As I said, be sensible.0 -

Agreed black is probably the safest colour for interviews (navy is safe too).
Re: bent being the opposite of straight - seems odd now you mention it but I've never thought that the opposite is bent. Isn't it funny how we label other people and even ourselves? I've never even been that keen on "gay" as a label, I've always just thought of myself as a man that happens to like other men.
Anyway sorry OP for taking your thread a little off topic. Whatever you choose to wear I hope the interview goes well. Come back and let us know how you got on.0 -
I'd wear a business suit or skirt/trousers with smart cardigan top irrespective of whether the interview was formal or informal. Employers still want to see you've made an effort. When they say informal, they mean the content will be discussion based. Not doing profiling, tests, presentation or Q&A as you would in a formal interview.
I'd never wear a low top in work let alone in interview. I'm proud to be a professional and want to be respected for my skills not my body. I want people looking at my face to listen to what I'm saying, not at my chest.~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"Any more posts you want to make on something you obviously know very little about?"
Is an actual reaction to my posts, so please don't rely on anything I say.0 -

For an informal chat, I would wear a smart dress and blazer jacket.
Dresses can seamlessly navigate from formal to informal. Be thankful you're female, you have it easy!
Never jeans. It's just not worth the risk.0 -
