Parking Eye charge notice - 3 letters and now signed for letter

Good evening all, I was hoping somebody would be able to help me. I have been a regular visitor to these forums but haven't needed to post anything before as I've always found my answer.. until now.
In July, I overstayed in a service station car park by 40mins as I was tired and needed a nap.
As I am away from home for long periods I received 3 letters from PE but ignored them as I wasn't aware of the 'new' POPLA way of responding to these parking companies.
I've just returned home again to see a Royal Mail 'Something for you' card, dated yesterday, for a 'recorded signed for' letter. As I'm not expecting any such letter and, judging from dates of the previous letters, I think it might be a LBCCC/LBA or similar.
After looking through the forums, I'm a little confused as to what my next step should be:
Ignore the letter at my delivery office til it gets sent back?
Pick it up and write some kind of appeal?
Call the land-owner of the service station and explain and try and get it cancelled?
Many thanks in advance for any help and guidance you have to offer,

As this is a PE LBCCC Go to this thread and follow the instructions
https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4754020
Do not ignore (unless you don't mind getting and defending a county court action - if you do not collect the letter they have done what it required of them and can simply serve the court papers at your last known address)
Do contact the landowner of the service station and try and get the charge cancelled - see Coupon-Mad's Hall of Fame here
https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/discussion/4766249
You may even spot 'your' Motorway service area.
But do not take your eye of the LBCCC ball - you need to send your acknowledgement within 14 days of receiving the letter.

Many thanks for the swift reply, I'll go and pick up the letter tomorrow morning!
I will also call the manager of the MSA and see if he can pass me the contact info for the landowner.
When I've written a draft for the letter, may I post it on here for a quick once over before I send it off?
Thanks,

You can. But I would advise against it. Parking Lies have spies who read the forums. I strongly suggest that you follow the instructions in the thread that I linked you to, and send off your own acknowledgment. That way they won't be able to identify you (it has been known for them to produce printouts of forum threads and use them as evidence against the defendant in court).

Hahah, that is so funny! You may think you are joking, but we have actually seen letters from PE to posters accusing them of going on the internet and getting advice!! As if seeking advice on how to deal with these muppets is somehow not playing by the rules. Some of their letters were NASTY - really aggressive, and some people were very intimidated - which was of course the intention.
So I generally advise people to keep correspondence off the forum to avoid being targetted by PE. Others are happy to thumb their noses at PE online - if you research the forums, you'll find a mixture of approaches.
But it is entirely up to you - and in fact it might be a good idea to have another thread that takes the process through from start to finish (we have done this in the past, but PE have changed their MO a couple of times since then).

EDIT - just realised that Mothballswallet isn't the OP to this thread...I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0 -
What a shame these PPCs can't be prosecuted by a higher court to send the message that getting advice is not illegal - not all of us can afford the very experienced(?) lawyers that they use...0

Just as an update to this thread...
A few days after sending the reply to the LBCCC, I managed to get in touch with a manager type at the MSA and explained my position (and the fact that their cameras are only located on slipways so how could they determine length of actual parking, as opposed to just entry/exit times) and they agreed to cancel the charge!
However, it was only yesterday that I actually got written confirmation through form PE confirming such.
Thanks to all who helped on here and this is just another reminder that if you can get in contact with the landowners or similar, it is very much possible you can get them to overturn your charge.0 -

Good man, I expect Coupon will be along soon to elevate you to the ranks of the forum Hall of Fame. :T
Edit - notice you've already done it. I've posted the link to this thread there for you. Please note, we are not a legal advice forum. I personally don't get involved in critiquing court case Defences/Witness Statements, so unable to help on that front. Please don't ask. .
I provide only my personal opinion, it is not a legal opinion, it is simply a personal one. I am not a lawyer.
