Had an email from scotcall last week about a debt i had no idea about so i sent them a proof it email they came back with an email saying it was from mem as i had no idea still i asked for more details as mem is a bit generic and they represent a few companies They came back with the name of a paydayloan company,which i had had dealings with in the past, but as far as i am aware do not owe them anthing i asked for them to send me more details and they asked could i send credit resource solutions a 1.00 for information, question is do i have to send money for this info . i thought they had to prove the debt was mine not for me to pay for info another company had sold on to them. any help would be appreciated.thanks

    You asked for details and proof of your liability for this alleged debt. Under OFT guidelines, they are obliged to supply such proof, and no fee is payable regarding this. To be clear this is not a request for a copy agreement under the consumer credit act, so no fee is payable. Tell them that, and that any further delay or attempt to avoid supplying proof that they would seek to reply on in court will result in a complaint to the OFT and you taking the matter to the FOS.

  • thanks fermi top advice as always i thought it sounded fishy when they asked for payment just thought i would clarify.

    can they just send someone to my door when i am trying to get info as to what company the debt is about i dont think they can but can someone clarify please.

    Have a read of this then lodge a formal complaint in writing, signed for or via email:

    They should be providing proof of a debt when it's not clear it's your debt. Idiots...

  • they are a bit cheeky after listing some of the breaches i got sent this
    We are no longer dealing with this account it was returned to our client Credit Resource Solutions
    so I will wait and see what they have to say on the matter
