If it was my client, I would establish exactly what the lender needs/requires to consider an extention before I suggested the solicitor goes ahead and requests it.

Different lenders have different requirements, some will extend only for a couple of weeks and require a simple solicitor request, while others will reconsider the case, request updated status requirements and give an extention of upto a couple of months.

  • I just found out his mortgage offer is with Natwest not halifax - Does what was said above still apply to Natwest or is it different?

NatWest offers last six months, with a drawdown deadline in some cases, determining the availability of the selected product.

I'm looking at one. Issued on 30 August and valid for six months, with a drawdown deadline of 28 February 2014.

Don't know extention process. Most are similar to description given earlier.
