The main reason I felt peeved was that I didn't think to use that route, especially as Key 103 is literally just around the corner from me!

I guess with hindsight it was obvious that they would choose someone who had entered via the station if they were going to announce it live on air - it would seem a bit odd if someone from the other end of the country won rather than a local listener - imagine the live call -

I know what you mean, it would sound odd but they didn't make it clear on the website that the winner would be a local listener. The T's +C's say that the on-line route is just as valid as the song-request route:

(I've emphasised some of the text.) If they've awarded the prize according to who's local (I'm guessing Chadderton is local to Key 103?), I think we've got good cause to be disgrunted. I'm not sure it would be a fair competition...Did they actually phone the winner? Because if, all along, they had to choose a winner who had submitted a phone number, it would exclude the online entrants because we were never required to give our number which, again, would make it unfair...(PS I'm not begrudging the winner her prize - it's not up to her how the comp's run.) Makes you wonder, doesn't it? :undecided

Yes, they did phone her and yes, Chadderton is local. She sounded as though she'd entered a few times because when they asked what song she'd like to hear played she gave the impression she'd requested a few. She was thrilled with the prize & will be having it sprayed bright yellow!

I know what you mean about it all sounding a bit suss. Some of this could just be down to how the DJ presented it - from experience I know that they don't necessarily get given (or don't take in) the full details of what they need to talk about and have a habit of filling in the blanks with their own imagination!
