I need some help please if anyone can!

Roughly 6 months ago I had a person call, asked me if I was ***** and stated a name....... and handed me a letter, I looked at the addressee, and the name wasn't mine............ I chased after the person and said excuse me this is not my name... he said But you replied Yes! I said yes that was my surname but not the Christian name on the letter which may I add I had not opened..

He then took the letter back, within minuets of my closing the door the letter was posted back through my letterbox, I chased after him shouting excuse me!!! but he failed to respond walked faster got in his car and tried to drive away............ I knocked on the window stating this was not my letter, his reply was well it's the same surname and the right address............

So I was stuck with the letter, I didn't know what to do with it so I binned it as it wasn't mine and no forwarding address to be returned too.


The 5 weeks ago another man came with another letter, I explained that I was not that person named on the letter, he went away happy I thought, 2 days later he returned with the same letter again I said this was not me, He then proceeded to knock at my neighbours and ask who I was and my name????? who told him the correct info which I had already explained to him.

I asked him where this letter had come from and why was he hassling me and my neighbours when I had shown him proof..(Driving licence/Birth Certificate) of who I was.... He then replied that Papers had been served at an earlier date here.. so I replied they were left in my letter box due to the man not wanting to take back the letter, and explained that he said it was right address and same surname so had to be me.After I had had the same conversation I did with you........... Oh dear!

This company are now knocking on my door daily and leaving cards for Mrs***** to call as they have a letter that needs a Signature........... I have ignored the calls to the door and have not called them as I don't believe this is my letter...

What do I do

Next time they knock, ask who they work for & to see id, take a photo of it & their face then tell them you are calling their boss & the police to report them for harassment.

If someone was knowkcing at my door daily after being told that the person didn't live there they would be getting freezing water poured on them from an upstairs window everytime they came near my door.

The card says APS.... which I have googled the number but nothing comes up


I have tried to be polite but if its not me and they are still coming how do I stop them? just because the surname is the same doesn't mean it's me... and going to my neighbours I thought was really not on..

Is there a number on it, an email address? Regardless, this person is basically stalking & harassing you in your own home, that is against the law & you need to call the police.

Does your house have a curtiladge ?
This is a garden and drive way type area they have to enter or can they stand on the public street and knock.

I am presuming they are court papers if he is saying papers were served.

The number left is 0203 3012 0022 nothing other than APS with what it is and no-one home and needs signature

if they are coming daily that is harassment. call the police not 999 and get advice,

If you are honest with yourself, OP, do you know the person who they are looking for?
I think the response would be different if it was, say, your sister-in-law who moved out three weeks ago to if they just found your surname in the phone-book and tried your address.

I think I have been as honest as I can be............... The surname is the same I have to agree but the Christian name is not me and I have lived here a long time..

I also don't owe anybody anything and I shouldn't be excepting letters that are not my name

<reading between the lines - feel free to let me know if I'm wrong>
Then I suggest you tell the person who the letters are for that you are being hassled by these people and it would be up to them to give the organisation their correct contact details.
