catalogue Debt

Hello forum

Need some advice regarding some catalogue debts that have slowly accumulated.. They are with little woods, isme and very.com. I have already reached and agreement with Littlewoods to repay the account off at a reasonable £50 a month, with all additional charges frozen. How ether upon making this same offer to the remaining two via email

very.com advised me to contact the payment team, howether next day I received a letter from a company called NDR so I assume this account has Been sold on.

isme replied to basically tell me That the account was already passed on to the debt company mentioned above.

The question is now is what to do? Do I continue trying to talk to the catalogues or go directly to NDR and try to offer repayment. I nosy admit I am worried about speaking to nasty rude people on the telephone.

Any help would be gratefully received.

  • NDR are inhouse for the Shop Direct Group. I think if you communicate with the catalogues, it'll just get passed on to them. Probably better off just speaking with NDR, they shouldn't be rude or judgemental, they're supposed to treat you positively and sympathetically.

Probably better to do it in writing anyway.
  • Do it in writing, but don't hold out much hope of a personalised response. Offer them an amount you can afford.

NDR are useless and don't give a stuff.

If no reply after 2 weeks send then a written complaint, signed for, about the lack of response to your reasonable offer and the barrage of automated letters you are likely to receive shortly.

They offered a payment plan after that. Guess they didn't fancy the FOS referral fee.

    Good luck

As stated above NDR are the inhouse debt collectors for the shop direct group and are totally useless to deal with, the usual tactic is to bombard you with calls and letters and completely ignore anything you say in a letter !!, you can make payment offers online, but they will ask for more, if you ignore them the debt will just be sold on after a few months, usually there bought by Lowell's who will accept anything.

that's what happened to me - the debt was originally with NDR then went to Lowells and they finally sent a letter saying they'd accept 30 quid a month so I set that up online - didn't speak to anyone!!!!

It just takes about 6 months for NDR to pass it on then for Lowells to offer it but if you ignore them til them (if you can take it) then it's owned by a third party DCA who might be more willing to take any money you give them.

so with this in mind would I be better off just waiting for it to be passed over?

does anyone have a copy of/know where i can find a letter that would be good to send?

also, thank you for all so so much for the help and guidance, i have let this situation get on top of me and its starting to really bring me down. its liberating to see it CAN and HAS been beaten!
  • hey birdyboy2013

I sent no correspondence, no acknowledgement - nothing! But I already had it as a default registered on my credit report so for me it didn't really matter what happened. If you're in the same boat there is nothing to lose for waiting a bit. If they haven't defaulted you - someone might recommend something different?

I'm afraid I'm no expert in these matters - I can only give my personal experiences.

Sorry. But if it helps - my OH also defaulted with Very and his followed exactly the same pattern - NDR then Lowell as mine did and I made him wait til the 30 pounds offer per month letter came and it did follow the same pattern as mine did!
