Does anyone record their game play?

Hi my two boys have been quite keen, in the past, to record their PS3 game play and post it on youtube.
We have, over the years, bought several capture cards which haven't worked too well.
A few days ago I found a HAUPPAUGE HD PVR 1228 for £39.97 in Currys and bought it.
I was wondering, before I unpack it, if anyone had used one and if there were any pros and cons.
I would love to hear your comments

It's a bit late now!
Will Curry's allow you to return the device for a refund? If not, I'd just give it a go and hope for the best rather than worrying about whether there are better cards you could have bought for the same money!0 -
Hello there,
I have captured my game play in the past. I have used a Dazzle capture card which was good but didn't capture it in HD which was a bit annoying. The one you have brought it brilliant though. A lot of people on YouTube use PVR. It captures in HD. Easy to setup. Only thing is it does capture video in quite a sizeable chunk so its not small files you are dealing with. You will need a good PC to edit it effectivley. Any more questions fire away!0 -

I have 28 days to return the unopened box.
I wanted to 'learn a bit about it' before committing to keeping it.
thanks

Thanks for taking the time to reply.
I am 'just a mum' and have very little knowledge of these things.
My son has built his own PC and got mid range graphics card and i5 processor so it should do the job (I think)
So, does it capture the picture on the TV screen , or does it capture the picture as it is transmitted from the PS3??
Will they need any more leads?
I wanted the PVR as a Christmas surprise, hence the fussing, as it would be too late to return then. (at the moment I have 28 days to return the unopened box for a full refund)
I know it's only £40 but I hate wasting money......
thanks so much for the help

I've never used one but it looks like that would work fine. It comes with the cables you need according to the list of what's included.0

It will come with the cables you need to record it. If you need an extra cables they won't be to much. Good news about the PC. It records the gameplay as it would be on the TV.0

yes, it will work. one of my friend used this.0
