Thu 19th Sept - What Small DFW Things Will You Be Doing Today?

When we start out on the Debt-Free Wannabe trail we do loads of "big stuff" that makes quite a difference to our situation. These include having our lightbulb moment, cutting up the credit cards and cancelling Sky and the gym.

But once we have done the bigger stuff, we often feel that we are not making the same amount of progress, when in fact the small steps are helping us form good financial habits and helping us get closer everyday to staying in control and becoming debt free, or staying debt free. .

Examples could be hanging washing out instead of using the tumble dryer or leaving your purse/wallet at home to avoid the risk of spending.

  • Good morning, Its a very wet day here today. I'm feeling very motivated today as I am aiming towards my challenge as DH was sad this morning due to being back at work and not wanting to be away from the kids for 15 hours, therefore the sooner I can get capital together for him to start working for himself the better. OK, time to stop boring all of you and get to work on what I need to do.

    My list for today
    Quick shower
    School runs
Feed animals and check for eggs
    Catch up with emails
    Look for MSing assignments
    Email report to lecturer
Put clothes away that I ironed the other day - Tidy dd and ds2's drawers whilst putting clothes away
Quick tidy in the living room
    Do homework for Friday
Give the bathroom walls another coat of paint
    Nectar adpoints
    Swagbucks
    Renew library books
Start to organise diary for next month
Dust round the house and dust for cobwebs
Read over the to do list for my challenge and add anything else that I can think of
    Check one poll
Check birthday bingo & postcode lottery
    Catch up with the laundry
Have some quality time with kids
    Order cards for DH's birthday

I think that is enough for me to start with today, Hope everyone has a good Thursday, hugs to those that need/want them x
  • Good morning everyone - and a big thanks to Ally for starting us off!

My day is somewhat relaxed again (I like these)

    *Walked dogs this morning
*Car-share with husband to and from work (making that £60 of petrol put in my car last week last even longer!)
*Day 2 of Ripped in 30 DVD tonight
*Chicken casserole in the slow cooker this morning so nice and easy dinner tonight :)
*Remind hubby to fill holes from old banister rail on stairwalls so we can paint it this weekend
*Going to Tesco at lunchtime to buy some cheese - and that is it - nothing else!
*Remember to take laptop home from work tonight as I'm working from home tomorrow - yay!
*Check bank online to see if Asda have refunded me the delivery charge after delivering my groceries a whopping 24 and a half hours late this week because a delivery driver decided he couldn't be bothered to work to the end of his shift.
*Muster up the courage to ring TalkTalk again to tell them our internet connection is still dropping out constantly.
*Continue with resisted urge to turn the heating on!

Have a good day everybody x

    The List 2:

:starmod: Tidy and clean the cupboard where we keep all our precious things from childhood etc as I was worried about damp. Done. There isn't any damp but had to clean mildew off some of the storage boxes that I think we brought from our old place.

:starmod: Hang a picture by OH's late mother over hole in wall above the stairs!
    Done.

:starmod: Washed small stain off corner of tablecloth instead of laundering whole thing. It was only laundered two days ago.
    Done.

:starmod: Hang up three free perfume samples received in the post in the wardrobes. Done.

:starmod: Varnish OH's late mother's picture frame to protect it. Done.

:starmod: Fit new back to mobile phone; did repair old back the other day but this has since failed. Looks like a new phone! Not bad for £4. Done.

:starmod: Give free Liberte yoghurt voucher to OH which arrived in the post today. Done.

  • Hi everyone,

Thanks for starting us off again Ally. My cashback account automatically upgraded & I can't change it until next year now :( Hoping to make enough extra money from referrals to make it worthwhile but that's not panning out so far!
Ziggy - Hope you feel better soon.

    Today's plan:-
    • Making use of free water & cake at work
    • Food from stores, leftovers for lunch
    • Dinner from meal plan - Satay chicken
    • Staying in for my lunch break to avoid spending
    • Log calories & exercise on free apps
    • Checked birthday bingo
    • Check online banking & enquire why our 0% overdraft is ending next month, I am sure we had longer on it...
    • Check for new mystery shopping opportunities
    • Enter some comps
    • Do some surveys
    • Declutter & flylady
    • DH hopefully doing some overtime today
    • Heating off, fleecey dressing gowns on instead
    • Applied for temp promotion - now the waiting begins...
    • Today is day 4 of the 30 days challenge - free exercise using DVD
    • Create a meal plan using up everything from stores. We have about £3 left of our budget until the 28th
Hope you're all ok & have a great MSE day x

That's rubbish. :( Could you do any of the free offers on there to make up the cash? e.g. If you login then go to "Free Cashback" you could sign up for a free month's trial of Experian which earns you £5.25.
