Trying to claim Barclays Pension

Anybody had difficulty in claiming from Barclays Bank UK Retirement Fund - 1964 Pension Scheme (non-contributory)?
Despite being told I am eligible from my length of service and age at resignation (and producing my P60's to prove my employment) because Barclays are unable to trace any records for me they are refusing to pay me any benefits.
Any suggestions as to what I can do?
