I've also just called their customer service line regarding bank accounts and the guy there confirmed my address was changed on the 23rd August 2013, how can this even happen without my consent? Surely I am the only person who can inform them to change the address that is held on the account?

It's indicative of how stupid Santander are. They've just sent me a letter in relation to a PPI claim in which it states I took the PPI out on 10th April 1995 for a card (they say) I took out with them on 14th June 2013. When challenged, they said the letter says I took the card out in August 1995. (Mine clearly says 14.06.13). It went quiet when I asked why I would have legitimately been sold PPI for a card FOUR MONTHS before I applied for the card....

Can't answer your original post, but they are completely useless so nothing will be a surprise.

It's Santander, both the credit card and current account were both up to date with the correct address, I was receiving bills for the credit card and current account statements both to the correct address and then they stopped, I presumed this was due to me choosing the option for paperless banking but it would appear that my address has being changed on both the bank account, savings account and the credit card to the incorrect address, I have never ever had the address even registered with Santander, I just can't understand where they have got the address from and why they would be issuing out letters containing personal information regarding the credit card to an address I have never provided.

Send them a written complaint, including exactly where to send teh response to.

Demand they correct your addresses, give you some compensation for your expenses. and grief.

You could also go to get them to sort out your credit report. But if you can't pay what you owe in arrears, I think you will be lucky to escape with a clean report unless they agree some generous plan to clear the arrears.

You can refer to FOS after 8 weeks if no joy.

  • I'm in a position to offer to make payments towards the arrears but due to now being unemployed I can only offer around £50 a month. I spoke to them earlier this week and they said that they would accept that arrangement on the basis I prove I cannot afford to pay more. They will then freeze interest until the balance is paid off and I won't be able to use the card anymore, which to me is not a problem as I haven't used it for months anyway. I'm just so annoyed that they have changed my address, disclosed personal account information to the wrong address and then made me feel like I'm the one who is giving false information by failing me on security when I was confirming an address which to my knowledge was correct! And to top it all now I have to travel into the town centre tommorow with my baby son, in the freezing cold weather, and spend my afternoon attempting to correct an error that it is not my fault. I owe them money granted, but that is no excuse for poor customer service.

Include the disclosure of info to the wrong address in our complaint too.

As I said, request compensation for costs and grief.

Complain in writing, that way hard to fob you off.
