....Would it be a disaster if everyone received 5k per annum benefit (total including housing, 3k for first child and 2k for each subsequent child) and then all income was taxed (plus ni) at 35%/45%/50%? (note no more tax free allowances etc).
It's been suggested. But it's an expensive option.0 -
that's not how I read it but it was in a newspaper so one can't expect too much
and what was 20% of ...
and one wonders if we did it for 7-11 years old would that show 20% more so we are now 40% better and maybe do it for secondary school and they would all be say 100% better

I heard it on radio 5 as they were interviewing someone from the company that undertook the research. It was quite interesting and much more informative than what I read in the newspaper, I am afraid i am not sure if it is availalble as a podcast though sorry.YNWA
