have had my application for additional borrowing on my mortgage excepted nearly 2 weeks ago, bank rang yesterday and said the money has not been released as our application has been randomly picked for further checks, although the advisor said there is nothing to worry about I am wondering if they can withdraw their offer although nothing has changed with our finances since applications ???

The offer could be withdrawn, but that is unlikely to happen if there has been no change in your credit position.
