No Subject on email comps

I am using Gmail and they made some changes a while back in that when you are using an earlier email as a template for a new one the subject isn't always displayed unless you hit edit subject.When the comp has no subject specified I sometimes forget to remove the existing subject has anyone else experienced this ? If you send out an email where no subject is specified and you send a subject from an earlier comp would this invalidate the entry ?
