Comping wins (curiosity)

Hi guys, this is my first post on the forum, albeit I am an avid follower of posts.

I've been actively comping for a fortnight now after having some luck in the past. Ive won Hard Rock Calling tickets, Ricky Burns boxing tickets, as well as other smaller items with very little effort.

I just wondered how many prizes can a person look to win entering roughly 200 comps a day?

I'm aware there's no hard and fast rule, just really looking for personal experiences.

Like you said, there's no rule, but it is a numbers game.
I've had 3 wins in one day before and gone for a few months without a sausage! (Although someone did win sausages... ) That wasn't at a 200 per day level... maybe 300 a week? But the more you enter, the more you win.

Very much depends on what the competition is you're entering.

Some will have thousands of entries, and others may only be hundreds.

It's just luck...

I've won about once a month entering 30-50 a day, around 300 a week.

I tend to enter mostly higher value (to me) comps, so I don't really expect to win much, but when I do, I'm a very happy bunny!

I agree that it's all a case of luck and chance. I've seen people on here who only enter maybe 100-200 a week and they've had 2 or 3 massive wins in a short space of time. I've seen others who enter 100-200 a day, and don't win anything for months or sometimes years Most of us are somewhere in between.
On average I enter about 100 unique comps a day plus another 100-150 dailies, I'd say I roughly get 3 to 5 wins a month but the vast majority of these are small things such as a book, DVD, box of cereal (ha ha). I've been comping seriously for about 14 months, during which time I'd say I've had about 4 or 5 big-ish wins. By that I mean iPad, shopping vouchers, etc. I started out convinced I was going to be winning something of that value every week - ha ha, if only!
Basically, as Zanzib said above, you are far less likely to get a win on the comps that get 1000s of entries than those that may only attract 100 entries, but you're never guaranteed anything - even if only 2 people enter, it could still be the other one who wins! Then again every comp you enter, you have the same chance as any other entrant (not accounting for cheats of course!)

When I first started comping about four months ago I won a lot of things in the first few weeks.
I think I was quite spoilt because after the second week I won an all expenses paid trip to London staying in a 5* hotel.
The problem is that kind of raised my expections to thinking I'd win things like that all the time!
Saying that I do enter at least 100 a day, but only the things I'd like to win rather than just blanket enter everything and anything.
The last three prizes I won were an apple slicer, a Time Bandits dvd and a box of brownies.
Whether it's a big or small win, your first or your hundreth, it's just as exciting everytime to think you were chosen out of all the people who entered.
All I would say is it's about the surprises, you can't go into comping thinking you'll win every one you enter (I won nothing in July at all!) but as along you have fun then it's a brilliant hobby!

Hi Craig,

I've been comping since mid June this year and my wins are in my signature. I enter over 1000 a month yet I have only won 3 things. My main one is quite a good price and I don't mind winning as long as my wins follow the quality over quantity rule lol.

The competitions I do are mainly the popular ones like laptops, holidays and cash but I do enter for smaller things like £20 giftcards, film merchandise and makeup. I don't really do the dailies, Rafflecopters or Twitter comps as I personally find these tedious and such a chore to enter, so that's probably why the odds of winning have been low for me.

I'm hoping for a big one soon but I'm happy even if I win just a glass. :rotfl:

It will also depend what competitions you enter. Some Facebook/Twitter competitions are open for only the day and can be low entry - if you entered 200 a day of those vs 200 of normal web entry competitions I suspect you would win more.

Most higher value competitions for TVs, iPads have a substantial higher number of entries than competitions to win a book - again if you entered 200 competitions for high value prizes vs 200 competitions for books I suspect you'd be more successful at winning books.

Some people just enter for high value prizes, personally I like entering for a variety of prizes on a variety of platforms Twitter/Facebook/Normal Web entry .... it's those little book prizes and face cream prizes that keep me going whilst I'm waiting for the biggies

I enter 200-300 a day & most months I get around 10-15 wins - but they are often small ones like books or make up - I reckon one medium size win every couple of months
