car parking tickets

Options
Evening MSE friends Im here again with my APCOA parking charge notice !!!! but for a change it dose not involve work
I recently stayed at Travel Lodge at Heathrow T5, i parked my car in a disabled bay, displayed my blue badge, left my fellow passengers in the car while I proceeded to check in (25th Augu @ 12:00) i checked twice with the receptionist that it was ok to park in a normal bay if the disabled bays were full and he was very sure in saying yes. I have now received a parking charge notice from APCOA stating I have breached the terms and conditions of the hotel parking-04 use of private parking without making a valid payment... !!!!!! is all this about. Before , at work i have not paid APCOA notices but I am unsure if the same principles apply here, but I have not had a ticket on my car because the blue badge was always displayed?? I have 28 days to appeal, obviously I am in the process of writing to both them and Travel Lodge but some expert HELP would be good again:mad:

    So a few questions

    1) is this England or Wales?
    2) are you the registered keeper?
    3) did the notice to keeper arrive within 14 days ?
    4) have you complained to the hotel?

    Thanks

You may not have noticed but Crabman moved your thread yesterday off the sticky you posted it on, and you already have advice from Guys Dad:

Yes its in England, not complained to the hotel yet, its on its way this week end, but do i send it to the hotel or to their MD or both. I am the registered keeper of the car and the notice was for 25th August and I receiver the letter 13th September but the date of issues of the notice is 10 September.:mad::mad::mad:

hi coupon mad, sorry but im not sure what you mean the sticky

Your first post was posted on a permanently 'stuck to the top' information thread called a 'sticky' and if you look at the first page of threads you will see the stickies (info threads, not for discussion or new questions) at the top. Like some other newbies, you did this by mistake when you should have started your own new topic. So Crabman moved your first posts into a new thread for you, before you started this one - so now you have two threads on the go!

    :)

Send the complaint to the Manager of the Hotel and copy in the MD of Travelodge UK if you can fid contact details. Tell them that you parked with the express permission of the Hotel receptionist, for free as a disabled visitor, because the free disabled spots were full. Get them to cancel it if you possibly can, make them aware how distressed and angry you are about this intimidation and disability discrimination (because it is).

Add that you are minded to tell others about it on TripAdvisor if Travelodge don't get it cancelled.

If no luck with the Hotel you need to send a challenge to APCOA - and Guys Dad has already posted that advice on your first thread, with a link to the Hotel website which states 'Blue Badge holders are exempt from charges'which makes it crystal clear that APCOA had no business doing this. SO tell the Hotel this and also APCOA if Travelodge are stupid enough to make you 'appeal' (they shouldn't).

You can also complain to Steve C at the British Parking Association about APCOA because they have breached the BPA Code of Practice to ticket a vehicle displaying a Blue Badge in a car park where the owner makes concessions for disabled people. This is just such a car park, and your car was parked as a concession agreed by the Receptionist, for free, and was displaying a Blue Badge. Email a complaint to:

    Steve.C@britishparking.co.uk

because APCOA are getting quite a few complaints at the moment! Add to them!

(Parking Eye are another firm, a bit like APCOA who are bothering you).
