Selling pictures to magazine/calendar companies

Anyone know of any magazines or calendar companies that buy pictures? I've got some lovely ones of my puppy.

  • Your best bet would probably be micro stock (have a google) but it's insanely competitive and your photos have to be very good, technically as well as creatively. You usually need a lot of photos to make any real money from it as well.
  • I have sold the odd photo through Getty BUT you cannot send them, or any other agency, your bog standard snap shots, they have to be HUGE files, be processed expertly and be of such high quality and take such a huge volume that there's no way just your average Joe at home with a compact camera will get any accepted.
  • A few of the stock sites have a list of cameras they will accept photos from.
If you don't have a DSLR or possibly a high-end bridge/ compact they're unlikely to be accepted.
