Personally, I believe all the recent trouble has put off a lot of the regular posters. After all who wants to be shot down in flames at every corner.

I think it probably has. It won't put me off though.
    Maybe they have won?

Not if I can help it.

I'm sure it will liven up gradually. It just takes a while for people to come back out of the woodwork.

For example, unless I've missed it Bakey has been very quite lately.

New people trickle in all the time as well, and as long as they can get the help they need the board will grow back a bit.

Yes, it is exactly like the board has had a very severe pruning, and needs to recover!

    Hi Neko,

I agree to some extent with both you and fermi, there have been unpleasantries that will undoubtedly have driven some people away. I can think of a couple of people that were posting regularly on here before Christmas who are now regulars on other support web sites.

However, I think it's the "bankruptcy cycle" that's more likely to explain why this board is quiet at the moment. People are being discharged from six months onwards and are inevitably getting on with their lives; the "being in limbo" effect seems to end when people are discharged.

Contrast that to say the DFW board where the cycle of repaying debt is 3-5 years, and there's a need to stay in touch with people, who are facing the same challenges, for a much longer period of time.

I also think as I posted earlier, that once the summer holiday period is over there will be a huge increase in the number of people facing bankruptcy and Forums like this will see a lot more traffic.

That's a good point. I estimate that from deciding to go BR to early discharge is about 9 months. Unless they've been here long enough to make friends here, some people will start to drift away once they've gone BR & will disappear altogether once they've been discharged. I don't really mind that - people ask the most questions when they're in a crisis, & to me if they've gone BR & feel they no longer need the support of the forum, it can be a sign that they've got things sorted out & their lives have moved on.

The only thing that concerns me is that people who do still need help may have been put off this board by recent events. If they've gone elsewhere for help, fair enough, but if they're not getting help at all, it's a bit of a worry.
