Get onto the MSE energy saving club and get yourself switched ASAP. There's 2 of us in a 2 up 2 down and we pay £670 a year. This will be a great saving for you!0

just checked electric and gas bill online... apparently we pay £2867 per year!!! only live in a little three bed house.... shocking!!!
Since my children are all grown and flown now I know it's easy for me to say but, you can and must cut down on the electricity bills.
Identify what it is that is costing so much - do you use a tumble dryer every day for instance? Make a habit of turning lights off when you leave a room; put on an extra layer if you're feeling the chill, instead or turning the heating on. Our bills (dual fuel) are only £50 pm and I get a refund most years, BUT we only have the heating on for a couple of hours in the evening if it's very cold (not had it on since the early spring), though we are warm-blooded souls
Most of all - make sure the kids are onside in your efforts to save money or all your efforts will be wasted.
Don't be embarrassed......you came on here for help and that is what you will get. If the odd person is judgemental (it happens, but it's rare) take it on the chin and try to learn something from the post.
As someone else pointed out, buy a big bag of mince and eke it out with lentils to make a load of cottage pies and freeze some. Buy a huge bag of pasta and make spag bol or chilli with the mince. Do look at the Old Style board, they're brilliant at making meals out of very little.I let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -
Post a separate question in the relevant board about storage heaters. There's something not right , either your not running them the right way, or its wrong amount, or the local cannabis farm has hacked into your leccy :rotfl:
Sorry, don't know much about them .

OK wrote letters to all creditors and loans asking to renegotiate the payments. Hubby knows everything and has agreed we need to cut back ALOT. Also put a menu in place, we buy what we need.
Thanks for all the replies I do appreciate all the advice and if anyone can suggest anything else to help then great. I need all the help I can get.
Taking control, brilliant,
taking action - even better :T
Getting the children onside - essential,
Consider the grocery challenge and spend free days challenges to start you off, I thought I was frugal til I came on this site :rotfl:Debt -it's a fight that I'm winning, dealing with debt one day at a time.
