Triton Credit Services Harassment

My partner and I have been dealing with Triton for over 12 months with an agreement to pay a fixed monthly sum each month. Every six months they telephone and say that a payment review is required. On the last payment review we wrote to them offering a payment to £7 a month, made this offer to them in writing and they responded in writing accepting the offer and said that it would be valid for 12 months at which time another review would be done.

That was the end of that for the next twelve months, or so we thought. Since that agreement was made (21st August) we have been bombarded with phone calls (daily) and are now receiving letters stating that we have overlooked payment and that a final payment in full is required immediately. I know that the payments are going out of the bank as we have setup a standing order.

Fed up with this I rang them and spoke to a very nice lady on 5th September. I explained that we were still receiving threatening letters and phone calls even though we have made an agreement which has been accepted for the next 12 months, She said she was sorry and that they had a new system which was causing problems and that she would put a note on the file and we wouldn't receive any more letters or calls.

3 hours after that conversation they called again!!! (I never answer the land line anymore because I know its them from the number so I did a 1471 and sure enough it was Triton) . Yesterday I received another letter from them stating that final payment is required within 14 days or it may result in legal proceedings. I'm fed up with this, they are just harassing us now, I don't know what I can do to get them to stop!!!!

Is there a financial body I can write to and report these idiots for their incompetency/harassment? Should I write to Triton as clearly telephoning them and pointing out that they made a repayment agreement with us hasn't worked.

Some advice needed please as I'm terrified they are going to start legal proceedings against us now!

    Hi,
Firstly calm down, take a deep breath........relax...they are just computer generated letters, you, rita, sue and bob too are probably receiving them, they are just standard threatogram letters designed to frighten you into making contact with them, you say you already have a payment plan with them ? then you have absolutely nothing to worry about, there computer system chucks these letters out ten a penny, no one is going to take you to court, as a rule of thumb, if the outstanding debt is £5000 or less, court action is very rarely taken, as imagine the chaos at courts throughout the land if everyone who owed money got taken there ? yes, simply pen them a letter stating what you've told us and telling them to stop sending correspondence or you will report them to the OFT and the FOS for harassment, do it in writing, never speak to them on the phone, always keep a record, and lastly don't worry about it !!

  • Send them a written complaint.

This takes their time to respond to and will make you feel better.

Ask for £20 compensation for calls and stress and postage.

No joy, refer to FOS. Cost them £500 referral fee and make you feel even more happy.

Only way to deal with companies like this.
